JOB SUMMARY: To develop future HIM professional leaders to manage a VHA Health Information Management Program.Upon completion of the two-year training program, the intern continues his/her career as a valuable member of the VHA workforce who ultimately, will contribute to the long and short-range administrative and operational needs of VHA. The Cincinnati VAMC has an opportunity for two paid internships for qualified RHIT or RHIA applicants who is either already credentialed or is registration eligible.The internship is a paid two-year program that prepares you for a HIM position under a preceptor, an experienced HIM professional.HIM interns who successfully complete the training will be eligible to apply for a full-time position in the field. The tour of duty if Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. day shift. 08-D-233 Health Information Management Intern QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: GS-07: 1 full year of graduate level education OR Superior academic achievement OR 1 year equivalent to at least GS-5. GS-09: Master?s or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related OR 1 year equivalent to at least GS-7. GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related OR 1 year equivalent to the GS-9 grade level.
