General Schedule The specialized experience for this position is experience that demonstrates knowledge of computer requirements and techniques in carrying out project assignments consisting of several related tasks, such as typically is the case in development of minor modifications to parts of a system on the basis of detailed specifications provided. The assignments must have shown completion of the following, or the equivalent: 1) Analysis of the interrelationships of pertinent components of the system; 2) Planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment; and 3) Personal responsibility for at least a segment of the overall project.
To qualify for this position, your resume must show sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position are:
1) Skill in and knowledge of internet operations and server maintenance techniques sufficient to perform daily server maintenance.
2) Ability to use validation tools, perform routine monitoring of server operations and diagnose and troubleshoot operational problems throughout the website.
3) Knowledge of analytical methods in order to diagnose, troubleshoot maintain and restore operations.
4) Knowledge of intrusion detection systems.The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction.Education can be substituted for experience. Performs daily monitoring of network firewalls and intrusions detection systems. Conducts daily operations and maintains performance of NT and UNIX servers including server domain and thin client management, upgrades of server hardware/operating systems, install/uninstall/upgrade and maintenance of server-based and desktop software applications, anti-virus software, and virus signature files, and technical maintenance and upgrade of functional user network operating systems/applications. Conducts daily operations and maintains performance of email servers and routers including upgrades of server hardware and software, maintenance of security patches and virus signature files, and providing technical recommendations to improve server performance. Conducts daily operations and maintains internet/intranet performance including use of standard web server software operating interfaces, tools, and security patches for website and webpage management.
