About the Position: You will be required to work outdoors year round regardless of weather when directing traffic, checking security of entrances of buildings, etc. Direct vehicular traffic in close proximity to moving vehicles. Handle loaded firearms on a daily basis. Work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, driving, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling and similar activities. Work may involve lifting and carrying heavy objects of up to 50 pounds. Requires physical ability in agility and dexterity and the strength to pursue, apprehend, and detain uncooperative suspects.

In this position, you will independently perform a broad range of law enforcement, investigation, crime prevention, traffic control, and community policing. You will handle volatile situations such as terrorist attacks, hostage situations, and armed robbery. Plan and carry out appropriate steps according to specific case conditions, and uses personal judgment in interpreting, adapting, applying, and deviating from case conditions. Performs traffic duties including directing traffic and issuing tickets for vehicle operation and parking violations.
