About the Position: Works under the general administrative and technical supervision of the Supv Education Services Specialist, who provides general policy guidance, defines objectives and establishes priorities. The incumbent is expected to independently plan and accomplish assignments. Work is reviewed for compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures.
While Fort Lee is the primary duty station, incumbent may be required to perform duties at any of the Education Centers within the Educational Service Area (Forts Eustis, Monroe, and Story).
Fort Eustis, Virginia is located in Newport News, between historic Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. Transportation includes convenient interstate and major highways connecting the city to neighboring Hampton, York County, Gloucester, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Smithfield. The Tidewater area has all the conveniences of a big city with charm of small town and rural areas.

MAJOR DUTIES:

Serves as a professional Educational Counselor in the Army Continuing Education System (ACES) providing the full range of educational and career developmental counseling and assistance. Counseling includes consideration of the total individual potential, i.e., basic skills for high school, preparation for college, vocational-technical, graduate, foreign language, and/or MOS-related educational programs. Conducts surveys of educational needs and preferences, analyzes testing of servicemembers to meet the units needs, arranges with commanders to make individuals available for on and off duty preparation to meet individual needs. Conducts educational briefings on educational programs. Promotes self-development programs provided by ACES through DANTES; TSC (IPD). Serves as DANTES Assistant Test Control Officer in the absence of the Test Control Officer. Insures that all examinations provided by ACE are properly ordered, received, safeguarded, administered and transmitted.
