About the Position: In this position you receive general supervision from the Range Control Officer who outlines assignments, objectives, priorities and deadlines. You will independently carry out day-to-day assignments resolving minor problems, occurrences and hazardous situations. Work is reviewed in terms of smoothness of operations, accuracy/compliance with instructions/inspection criteria. You will be required to work out doors on the ranges all year long.

General Schedule To be considered for this position candidates must show in their resume they have training or experience in the following: 1) Knowledge of safety regulations and training requirements to ensure personnel are not allowed in dangerous areas. 2) Working knowledge of computer and basic math to allow for computation of usage statistics. 3) Ability to coordinate and schedule numerous concurrent training activities.The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction.One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade or level requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled.Must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).Ability to communicate orally and in writing.GS-06 and above: One year of experience directly related to the occupation and equivalent to the next lower grade level. MAJOR DUTIES:

In this position, you will assist the Range Control Officer in the coordination and control of the Devens RFTA training areas/facilities for all Inactive Duty Training (IDT) and Annual Training (AT). You will inspect and oversee usage of training areas by active duty and reserve components of all military services. You will be responsible for briefing unit?s point of contact on established regulations and procedures involving the use of the training areas. You will bring discrepancies to the attention of the appropriate authorities. You will maintain two-way communication between Range Control/Operating Units by using range radios/telephone networks to open and close firing ranges, weapons training facilities and training areas. You will also prepare monthly/quarterly/annual reports in accordance with systems user guide and provide special reports as required. Furthermore, you will develop, maintain, and execute the Range Training Land Program (RTLP).
