General Schedule SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of specialized engineering terminology sufficient to recognize and correct in reports, correspondence and working documents. Skill in operating microcomputer utilizing a variety of software, including word processing, spreadsheets and databases, including the ability to insert, retrieve, delete, merge, edit and transmit data using the LAN. Skill in operating related equipment such as printers as required. A qualified typist is required. Knowledge of MARKS and local filing systems in order to classify, search for and dispose of material. Knowledge of proper correspondence procedures and formats required to prepare a wide variety of recurring reports and documents from information obtained from office staff, staff or other activities or other sources. Incumbent works from draft, marked-up copy, oral and written instructions. Verifies data on computer printouts to ensure accuracy and to identify data. Composes routine and technical correspondence based upon oral instructions, brief notes or information, which is readily available in the files and records of the office. Refers to reference manuals, style manuals, dictionaries, technical reports and other reference sources. Edits own work. From submitted modules, rough drafts, notes or verbal instructions prepares miscellaneous reports. Work involves frequent use of engineering and/or scientific terminology and reading and handling other types of technical engineering materials.
