Job's primary purpose is to perform specialized, difficult, intricate, delicate and demanding techniques in preparing a wide variety of histopathological specimens. Requires a practical working knowledge of techniques of anatomic pathology practices. Position is located in Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) which is located in Northern Washington DC. Inclement weather essential position. Pre-appointment physical with color vision screening is required. Work shift: occasional weekends/holidays and can be either day, evening or night shift. General Schedule Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped that candidate with the knowledge, skills and abilities used in the preservation and fixation of tissue specimens, processing, embedding, microtome, and staining (including complex special stains). NCAN08495814D HISTOPATHOLOGY TECHNICIAN Additional Duty Location Info:1 vacancy - DC - Washington MAJOR DUTIES: BackToTop(); You serve as a histotechnologist who provides all histological preparations required to discern the nature and extent of disease in surgical and autopsy specimens from surgery, clinics and autopsy service at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) and other institutions supported by WRAMC. You are responsible for the identification, accessioning, proper fixation and processing of all tissue specimens received by the laboratory. You process and prepare special pathologic tissue for study by the pathologist. You operate, maintain, troubleshoot and adjust or repair cryostats. You perform a full range of duties involved in special processing and staining of all tissue types including skin, bone, nerve, brain and lymph nodes.
