About the Position: Responsible for identification and assessment of hazards and potential hazards. Conducts risk asessment /hazard analysis and recommends corrective and/or preventative actions in support of a comprehensive safety program which encompasses base support operations to include worksite inspection, construction plan review, and review of contractor activities; transportation, including vehicle operations (private, Army and other motor vehicles; range operations.
*CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT*:Shift work may be required. May include tour(s) of duty on weekends, nights or on call status as determined by the Safety Manager. Employee required to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.Position subject to a random drug test. Wearing of protective equipment is often required when performing inspections. Travel by military aircraft is required.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

General Schedule SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience in the same of similar work at the next lower pay band or equivalent grade under the General Schedule or other pay systems in the Federal service. Best qualified candidates must show in their resumes that they have 1 year of specialized experience conducting accident prevention surveys and studies in a variety of establishments where conventional safety process/ procedures are applied. This experience must have provided the following knowledge, skills and abilities: (1). Knowledge of a wide range of safety and occupational health concepts, principles, practices, procedures, laws, regulations, standards, precedents and methodologies applicable to an extensive range of tactical and non tactical operations, equipment, material and environments in order to plan and carry out surveys and evaluate safety and health programs; develop and revise safety an occupational health guidelines; analyze mishap causal factors and develop hazard control strategies. (2). Skill in performing periodic and unscheduled inspections of installation facilities(to include the ammunition supply point, range, and arms rooms), warehouses, and equipment maintenance operations and evaluates compliance with applicable regulations and hazard classification system; develops and recommends countermeasures and methods to correct safety and occupational health deficiencies. (3). Ability to prepare survey report indicating areas of deficiency or noncompliance, cites reference or authority and recommended appropriate corrective/abatement procedures, and maintain regulations, records, forms and reports in support of the Installation Radiation Protection Program.The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.Your pay will be set within the range specified in this vacancy announcement and will be based on your qualification, education, experience, training, and availability of funds.NSPS positions are excluded from time-in-grade restrictions.Applicants must demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies required to perform the work identified in the duties description.Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower pay band or equivalent under the General Schedule (GS) or other pay systems.Quality of experience relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background and recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position.
