General Schedule Basic Requirements: Degree: that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the position to be filled in one or a combination of the areas described below. At least one course must have been from (1) or (2) below. For guidance counselor positions, a college or university-sponsored practicum in counseling is also required. (1) Tests and measurement: Study of the selection, evaluation, administration, scoring, interpretation, and uses of group and individual aptitude, proficiency, interest, and other tests. (2) Adult education: Study of the adult as a learner, teaching-learning theories for adults, models and procedures for planning, designing, managing, and evaluating adult learning activities. (3) Educational program administration: Study of the foundation and methods in organizing for adult and continuing education programs. (4) Curriculum development or design: Study of the principles and techniques for development of curricula for adult or vocational education programs. (5) Teaching methods: Study of teaching strategies and learning styles of the adult learner. (6) Guidance and counseling: Study of the purposes and methods in counseling and guidance, the role of the counselor in various settings, approaches to counseling, and the uses of tests in the counseling situation. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: In addition to meeting the basic requirements, applicants must have one year of specialized experience in the same or similar work at the next lower pay band or equivalent under the General Schedule (GS-09) or other pay systems requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled. SCER07466346 EDUCATION SERVICES SPECIALIST Additional Duty Location Info:1 vacancy - VA - Hampton MAJOR DUTIES: BackToTop(); The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Administrator of an Army Education Center(s). As such, the incumbent performs education specialist functions and plans, directs, coordinates and reports on the full scope of activities required to accomplish the Army Continuing Education system (ACES) program for assigned education center(s). Has oversite responsibility for work performed in the Education Center, to include tuition assistance, Basic Skills, Multi-Use Learning Facility, coordination of testing, management of classrooms. Provides input for budget requirements, materials needed, class schedules, etc. Conducts educational needs and interest surveys and develops programs. Prepares and conducts unit staff briefings to explain program, policies, changes, etc. Trains assigned unit education officers/NCOs. Counsels military personnel regarding educational goals, providing guidance on the establishment/planning of realistic educational goals.
