About the Position: This position is under the supervision of Director, Human Resources (Military)
Serves as HR Specialist in the Continuing Government Activity (CGA), Human Resources Directorate, U.S. Army Garrison, Fort Sam Houston, TX servicing HQs Medical Command (MEDCOM) activities, US Army South (USARSO), Installation Management Command West Region, US Army North (ARNORTH), and other Army commands assigned to Fort Sam Houston. The work directed is administrative and technical in nature and significantly impacts a wide range of agency activities.
Work is sedentary requiring no special physical effort, occasionally requiring lifting light office items and travel to other locations. May be required to stand and walk over a long period of time during Soldier Readiness Processing of Mobilization exercises.
Typical office setting, well heated lighted and ventilated.

General Schedule Knowledge and skill in applying principles, practices, and procedures involved in human resources military personnel policies, regulations, precedents and procedures combined with knowledge of the missions and functions of other related organizations to plan, coordinate and conduct quality assurance evaluations. Knowledge and skill in the utilization of human resources military automated systems. Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods to planning matters, to develop and recommend planning documentation and guidelines.The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction.Education can be substituted for experience. Serves as Contracting Officer Representative over the Human Resources functions within US Army Garrison. Performs administrative direction, with latitude for the exercise of independent judgment, work of substantial difficulty & responsibility along mission, special technical & administrative lines. Provides oversight of the following Government in Nature & core functions: Installation Records Management Program. Program, Casualty & Mortuary Affairs Program, Mobilization & Solider Readiness Processing Program, & Installation Army Substance Abuse Program. Performs a variety of technical work relating to officers, warrant officers, & enlisted personnel. Administratively plans, organizes, & controls the operation of military personnel programs & a variety of personnel actions. Participates in staff meetings/briefings with the Director & local Commanders. Processes mobilization & demobilization actions. Monitors Military Personnel Office personnel transactions for accuracy & completeness.
