About the Position: This position is located at US Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, GA 31905, ?The Home of the Infantry?. Fort Benning is located 100 miles south of Atlanta and is adjacent to Columbus, GA and Phenix City, AL. The geography and climate are ideal for year-round military training. Public Transportation and free parking is available. This position is under the supervision of the Directorate of Emergency Services, MP Investigations Branch. The purpose of this position is to serve as the Evidence Custodian assigned to the Military Police Investigations Branch. NOTE: POSITION IS A TERM NTE 4 YEARS IN ONE YEAR INCREMENTS.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

General Schedule SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To meet minimum qualifications applicants must show in your resume that you have one year of specialized experience in the following areas at the GS-05 grade level. Experience in resolving problems or unusual situations using Army law enforcement regulations. To be considered best qualified candidates for this job you must meet the minimum qualifications from above and show in their resume that they have one year of experience at the GS-05 grade level in the following areas:(1) Knowledge of evidence processing and control procedures and practices and the regulations and laws governing chain of custody for evidence. (2) Skills in applying Army law enforcement regulations. (3) Ability to maintain an evidence ledger to show accountability by cross-referencing evidence with the evidence custody document. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Physical is required (must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds on a regular basis). FUTHER CERTIFICATION: Further certification from this announcement may take place up to 180 days from the date the first referral list is issued. Applicants that falsify their resume may be fined, imprisoned, barred from applying for Federal employment, and/or removed from Federal employment.Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction.Must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).GS-06 and above: One year of experience directly related to the occupation and equivalent to the next lower grade level. MAJOR DUTIES:

You will handle evidence from local, state and federal authorities as well as for Grand Jury proceedings; Full responsibility for maintaining accountability for all physical evidence; Responsible for receiving, logging, securing, tracking, and disposing of all physical evidence; Responsible for maintaining chain of custody for each piece of evidence to ensure the outcome of an investigation is not jeopardized; Package and ship evidence to forensic laboratories for examination and testing; Prepare and transport seized firearms for Ballistics Identification; Coordinate evidence disposal and safely disposition of hazardous/biohazards evidence; Prepare and conduct training for agents and non-investigative personnel; Receives, logs, secures, tracks and disposes of found/unclaimed property including government issued property. Maintain an evidence ledger to show accountability by cross-referencing evidence with the evidence custody document. Maintains a database computer system
