SWGM08500837 Safety & Occupational Health Specialist QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Click on link below to view qualification standard. General Schedule SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-12 level you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is defined as:1) Experience applying occupational safety principles, practices, procedures, regulations, methods, techniques to conduct surveys in area and resident offices where such facilities as lock and dams, hydropower facilities, various phases of construction, such as tunneling, excavation, trenching and HTRW clean-up sites.2) In-depth experience working with building design, construction standards, procedures, methods and techniques sufficient to evaluate proposed and actual plant expansions of modifications including utility systems and building materials and actual construction of civil and military facilities.3) Experience analyzing mishap data, discover causal factors and to develop techniques to prevent or reduce the possibility of reoccurrence or other work that is in or related to the position being filled. .The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction.Must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).GS-12 and above: One year of experience directly related to the occupation and equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. SWGM08500837 Safety & Occupational Health Specialist Additional Duty Location Info:1 vacancy - TN - Nashville MAJOR DUTIES: BackToTop(); As Safety and Occupational Health Specialist assigned to the Nashville District, conducts management evaluations/inspections in a broad geographical area having over-site of a wide variety of hazardous and complex work operations and conditions found in construction, commercial A&E, maritime, diving and maintenance operations which employ specialized practices. Serve as primary advisor to the Chief, Safety and Occupational Health Office (SOHO), in planning, developing, and directing the overall Districts safety and occupational health program. The SOHO program consists of preventing injuries and property damage, occupational safety and health, recreational safety, hazard communication, radiation safety, fire prevention and protection, safety education and training, control of environmental health and sanitary hazards, accident investigation and analyzation, and control of hazards to the public visiting District installations.
