Airport (GTR), Mid-Delta Regional Airport (GLH), Gulfport-Biloxi
International Airport (GPT) ONLY.
Salary range listed does not include Locality Pay of 12.91%.

Discover and stop emerging transportation security threats, utilizing state of the art technologyEducate and provide friendly customer service to travelers Screen passengers and gather intelligenceCoordinate security involving aviation, rail, and other surface and maritime transportationOversee most transportation-related responsibilities of the federal government during a national emergency
Oversees the screening checkpoint on a daily basis, scheduling an
adequate number of screeners to provide efficient screening of all
persons, baggage, and cargo.Distributes and balances workload and
tasks among employees, making adjustments as necessary.Conducts
screening of passengers, baggage, and/or cargo, monitoring the flow
of passengers through the screening checkpoint.Enforces TSA
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to prevent deadly or dangerous
objects from being transported onto an aircraft.Monitors and
reports on the status and progress of work, serving as a team
builder among screeners.Resolves informal complaints and serves as
liaison between supervisor and incumbent screeners for formal
complaints.

Lead Transportation Security Officer (Screener)
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
All applicants must demonstrate at least six months of experience
performing the duties of a Transportation Security Officer
(Screener), SV-1802-D/E, or GS-5/6 level, or equivalent or higher
security experience gained in the Federal government or the private
sector.
Such experience would include:
Providing frontline security protection to air travelers, airports, and airplanes.Wanding, performing pat down searches, operating an x-ray machine, screening baggage, and reviewing tickets.Identifying dangerous objects on passengers and/or in baggage or cargo, and preventing these objects from being transported onto aircraft.Using diverse electronic detection and imaging equipment.

MAJOR DUTIES:

Incumbent functions as Lead Transportation Security Officer
(Screener).
Oversees the screening checkpoint on a day-to-day basis, to include equipment with personnel.Schedules an adequate number of screener personnel to provide for efficient and effective screening of all persons, their baggage, and cargo.Identifies, distributes, and balances workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow and skill level. Makes adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities.May approve emergency leave for up to three days. Candidate conducts screening of passengers and/or baggage, and/or cargo. Trains or arranges for the technical training of team members; monitors and reports on the status and progress of work.Monitors the flow of passengers through the screening checkpoint to facilitate the orderly and efficient processing of passengers.Resolves simple, informal complaints of employees and refers others, such as formal grievances and appeals to the supervisor or an appropriate management official.Serves as coach, facilitator and/or negotiator in coordinating team initiatives and in consensus building activities among team members.Represents the team in communications with the supervisor or manager for the purpose of obtaining resources (e.g. computer hardware and software, etc.).
