QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Basic requirement:You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

You must have one full year1 specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 level.This experience must be close to the work of this job and has given you the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a Time and Leave Clerk (Office Automation).Experience may have been gained performing a full range of timekeeping duties including applying complicated pay and leave regulations for multiple schedule types and pay schedules; verifying accuracy and making adjustments and corrections as needed; calculating overtime, comp time, etc.

To qualify based on education you must have successfully completed four (4) years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university (YOU MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS OR COMPLETE COURSE LISTING IF YOU ARE BASING PART OR ALL OF YOUR QUALIFICATIONS ON EDUCATION)2.

1A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week.Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

This position is located at the New York Campus of the VA New York Healthcare System within Patient Services performing timekeeping and word processing functions.Major duties and responsibilities include:Preparing time and attendance reports for over 800 employees utilizing an electronic pay system;Correctly applying multiple pay and leave systems including Title5, Title 38 and Hybrid with multiple tours of duty;Performing leave computations;Correctly entering and verifying over-time requests and postings;Preparing on-call pay from duty schedules for ICU and Operating Room and other applicable areas;Posting and recording of employees who are injured on duty and complying with OWCP regulations;Initiating and maintaining leave audits;Providing training to nurse managers, supervisors and employees; and,Performing other related duties as assigned.
