QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Your resume/application must demonstrate that you possess the following qualification requirements.
GS-6: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service.
Specialized Experience: Experience purchasing/procuring specialized medical equipment and/or supplies (preferably prosthetic/orthotic appliances).
TYPING SPEED PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT - ABILITY TO TYPE 40 WORDS PER MINUTE.

Major duties:Receives and analyzes prescriptions and requests for prosthetic appliances and medical equipment from physicians, therapists, patients, and their representatives.Arranges all details of procurement, discounts, payment and delivery on the most advantageous terms.Resolves questions of equipment appropriateness and function, aptness of prescription, and legal eligibility.Arranges for cost effective repairs of any equipment the eligible veteran may require, authorizing local or national manufacturers to do so or using local contract facilities as necessary.Arranges retrieving, shipping, storage, and redelivery of previously issued equipment as necessary, and redelivery of previously issued equipment as necessary, authorizing the necessary funds, controlling the pending documents and authorizing payment for the service or repair rendered.Types a variety of purchase orders, correspondence, prosthetic service cards, and letters for the Chief Orthotic Lab.Follows procedures concerning NPPD, CDR, stock and inventory reporting, recall list, and safety and disaster plans.Provides clerical support, data entry, scheduling of patients to clinics, quality assurance and data validation associated with orthotic lab package.Analyzes contractors and local procurement vendors to insure that the ability to provide the item or services can be delivered in a timely and cost effective manner.Explains and confers on custom made contract clauses, specifications, purchase, descriptions, or other special requirements.Discusses with contractor and open market vendors price, discount, patient specifications, and delivery provisions.Searches non-local markets to locate a source.Appliances made to order are special medical equipment parts, special modifications of standard medical equipment and machines, computer equipment and special purpose test equipment.Maintains records for reports pertaining to minority small business, veterans and Vietnam veterans owned business as mandated by law.
