Trades and Labor QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE: Applicants must show in their resume that they have the ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Helper without more than normal supervision. Qualifying experience includes the use of heavy mobile and automotive parts components and where they are located and how to remove them. Ability to clean and lubricate parts and perform other very routine maintenance tasks. Ability to follow written and oral work directions. Experience in the use simple hand and power tools common to the trade. Experience in the different types of hazardous materials common to the shop area sufficient to separate them into specified categories. Experience in using a variety of accepted packing containers, protective materials and methods in order to properly pack vehicle and equipment assemblies, components and parts in consideration of size, shape, type, weight and fragility. Experience in the use of specified engine preservation and packaging methods and procedures. Ability to use tools and equipment such as banding and stapling machines, "foam in place" equipment, air pressurizing equipment, etc. Skill in operating a forklift of up to 10,000 pound capacity to include starting, stopping, backing and lowering and lifting forks.The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.Experience and training that furnish the knowledges, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade. WTEU08308834 Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Helper Additional Duty Location Info:1 vacancy - WA - Fort Lewis MAJOR DUTIES: BackToTop(); Performs work incidental and/or preparatory to that of higher graded mechanics in the repair and overhaul of heavy mobile and automotive equipment after receiving instruction from a higher graded employee. Removes a variety of parts, components, accessories and assemblies. Obtains tools and replacement parts. Assists in repair and overhaul functions by holding components and assemblies in place and tightening nuts and bolts. Performs cleaning and lubrication; removes and replaces wheels and batteries and other very routine maintenance functions. Performs more complex work under the guidance of a higher graded employee such as installing parts and making minor adjustments. Operates a variety of vehicles for purposes of moving them in and out of the shop area. Operates and maintains a satellite accumulation area for the collection of hazardous material. Determines appropriate packing method, container, protective material and fastener. Operates a forklift up to 10,000 pounds.
