KB-RG-167230 Patient Services Assistant QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: GS-6:Candidates must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Patient Services Assistant. Examples of qualifying specialized experience are: Experience using medical terminology; and Planning, organizing and Coordinating work. KB-RG-167230 Patient Services Assistant Additional Duty Location Info:2 vacancies - Saginaw, MI MAJOR DUTIES: BackToTop(); Tour of Duty: Work is full time, Monday thru Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30pm Temporary Appointment Not To Exceed One (1) Year Major duties and responsibilities include: This position is located in the Patient Administration Service at the VA Medical Center in Saginaw, MI. You will be assigned to the Admitting/Outpatient/Primary Care area performing a variety of administrative and clerical duties associated with screening, advising and assisting veterans and other beneficiaries seeking and receiving medical treatment. Duties include, but not limited to the following:Provides advisory and technical assistance to veterans and their families, professional staff members, other VA Hospitals and our satellite clinics in matters directly related to patient needs/care.Serves as consult coordinator independently carrying out a wide range of complex scheduling procedures.Initiates, coordinates and schedules all appointments accurately and timelyActs as liaison between the hospital and approximately five different VA facilities to coordinate treatment requests.Determines tentative eligibility of legal entitlement for each applicant.Ensures eligibility for VA medical care is met and accompanies each consult.Acts as a receptionist.Receives telephone inquires.Establishes and maintains stock levels on all required forms utilized by the unit.Initiates and prepares accurately patient data cards.Reviews all medical records at the completion of each visit for completeness.Enters data into and updates computers. ***RELOCATION EXPENSES AND/OR INCENTIVES ARE NOT AUTHORIZED***
