VG-MB-165904 NURSING ASSISTANT QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: For GS-4: Six months of general experience and six months of specialized work experience at the GS-3 level in federal service: Example of experience includes but not limited to: Providing personal nursing care such as providing pre- and post-operative care. Support duties for diagnostic and technical treatment procedures, such as setting up and operating special medical equipment and apparatus. Caring for mentally ill patients, including observing, recording, and reporting changes in their behavior, and providing reassurance and encouragement. Assisting surgeons and registered nurses in operating room activities, including passing instruments, maintaining sterile conditions, and draping and positioning patients. OR Two (2) years above high school with courses related to the occupation. For GS-5: One or more years of specialized experience in performing nursing duties such as; nonprofessional nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home or other medical, nursing or patient care facility, or in such work as that of home health aid performing duties such as: providing personal care such as pre- and post-operative care. Support duties for diagnostic and technical treatment procedures, such as setting up and operating special medical equipment and apparatus. Caring for mentally ill patients, including observing, recording and reporting changes in their behavior and providing reassurance and encouragement. This experience is equivalent to the GS-4 level in federal service. OR Four (4) years above high school leading to a bachelor's degree in the related field of the position. VG-MB-165904 NURSING ASSISTANT Additional Duty Location Info:Many vacancies - Augusta, GA MAJOR DUTIES: BackToTop(); Major duties and responsibilities include: The employee in this position is assigned on a regular basis to a Medical/Surgical or Intermediate Medicine ward or the Nursing Home Care Unit and relieves on other units as necessary.S/he assists with admission, discharge and transfer of patients.S/he performs a variety of general nursing duties which includes the following:measures vital signs, height, weight and intake/output as appropriate; catherizes patients using sterile technique and provides catheter care; provides colostomy care for patients; applies dressings for superficial, uncomplicated wounds including decubiti; assists with diagnostic tests and collection of sterile and non-sterile specimens using aseptic techniques; administers cleansing/retention enemas; performs oral, nasopharyngeal, tracheal suctioning and provides tracheotomy care; provides nursing care for patients under isolation precautions; reinforces information on standardized nursing care, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to promote patient understanding and acceptance.Incumbent performs other related duties as assigned. ***RELOCATION EXPENSES AND/OR INCENTIVES ARE NOT AUTHORIZED***
