SCGK08452322 Electrical Engineer QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Click on link below to view qualification standard. General Schedule BASIC REQUIREMENTS: ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, GS-0850: A. Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curricula; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statistics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR B. Combination of education and experience. Candidates that falsify their resume may be fined, imprisoned, barred from applying for Federal employment. Best qualified candidates must show in their resume that they have experience in the following areas: (1) Knowledge of electrical engineering theories, principles and practices applicable to the full range of engineering duties concerned with construction, determination of design change, and contractual compliance of equipment and systems such as substations, electrical distribution, building power and lighting, controls and fire alarm systems, and testing of systems. (2) Knowledge and skill to resolve a variety of engineering problems as created by the equipment to be used, site and construction conditions which develop, as well as conflicts and discrepancies in design.Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction.Must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent). Gordon MAJOR DUTIES: BackToTop(); Serve as electrical engineer in charge of all phases of installations, inspection testing & partial contract administration of all systems and construction operations at military installations. Provide the source of expertise in electrical engineering problems, arising during construction. Contracted items typically include substations, overhead and underground distribution systems, building power and lighting controls, fire alarms and electrical systems with related mechanical systems found in administrative buildings, shops, storage facilities, tactical equipment shops and other typical structures found on a military installation, as well as energy conservation projects. Study plans and specifications and checks contractor?s layout of facilities. Checks shop drawings for compliance with design criteria and coordination with other features of the project. Prepare estimates of completed work for partial payment to contractors. Prepare basic data for cost reports, progress reports, etc.
